The 21th Annual Cambridge Pottery Festival and U.S. Pottery Games (CPF) will be held Saturday, June 9 through Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Lake Ripley Park in Cambridge, Wisc. The two-day, all-clay festival celebrates the fine art of handmade pottery and features wares of 40 professional potters from 10 states. The Wisconsin Handmade Tile Guild will do demonstrations throughout the day, the Waukesha Potters Guild - displaying students and their wares - offering classes and studio time to visitors, the New London High School students, and the Stoughton High School students. Here’s what visitors can expect throughout the weekend: All Weekend on the Grounds · Potters Shop (Pottery books, tools and pre-made pots to experience the ever-popular Raku Workshop and watch the magic of fire transform a pot into a work of art) · "Hands On" Learning Center (Make your own pot on a pottery wheel) · Adventures in Slip Casting (Paint a bisque item for $5.00) · Information Tent (Collector T-shirts, posters and mugs) · SHIMPO wheel raffle could ignite the career of next year’s Games’ winner - and the SHIMPO America tent - offering a vast assortment to tools and kilns · Cambridge Lions Club Food Tent, Cowboy Kettle Korn and other delicious food vendors Saturday, June 9 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. 9:00 a.m. Professional Potters competition 10:00 a.m. Silent Pottery Auction under the information tent begins
12:00 p.m. Live Auction featuring the pots from 2011 U.S. Pottery Games 3:00 p.m. Winner announced for the Best Butter Dish competition Sunday, June 10 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. 10:00 a.m. Grand Champion Throw - top 3 winners from Saturday’s heats in both heavy weight and light weight division 12:00 p.m. High School and College Games High School and College Scholarships announced 3:00 p.m. Silent Pottery Auction concludes (Must be present to win) Shimpo wheel raffle The festival is free and open to the public. Parking is free on the park grounds. Proceeds from both auctions support youth scholarships and help to keep the festival free to the public. Lake Ripley Park is a swimming park and NO ANIMALS are allowed on the grounds. The Cambridge Pottery Festival is strictly a Not-for-profit organization run by two sisters, Wendy Brabender and Peggy Klingbeil and a hand full of dedicated family and friends.
