Welcome to another year of the Cambridge Pottery Festival!
This year is proving a challenge for our committee and our family. In February my parents lost the top half and the basement of their home to a fire, Which is also the place where we stored our last years aesthetic competition pots for this years scholarship auction. We quickly learned that greenware and water from the fire hose in not a good combination.
Next we lost our father to lymphoma cancer on April 17. If you have been to a past Cambridge Pottery Festival you have most likely met our father, either on the gator in the moring selling Biscuits and Gravy for the Lions Club, greeting you at the gate when you drive in, or finding you some sort of supply that you might need to set up your tent. Our Father was a great supporter of the Cambridge Pottery Festival and the Cambridge Lions club and he will be grately missed.
The committe is working hard so you may enjoy your weekend strolling along the shores of beautiful Lake Ripley. We have 40 professional pottery booths, demonstrations throughout the weekend, a silent pottery auction at the booth, Best Butter Dish competiton, and the world famous U.S. Pottery Games. If you are a professional pottery and would like to throw in the games and do not have a booth on the grounds, by all means sign up for a heat under the information tent. We are always looking for willing participants to enter the Pottery Games.
If you are an High School or College student, you may enter the High School and College games on Sunday for a chance to win a $250.00 scholarship. Come early Sunday morning and sign up under the information tent. Spaces are limited.
To date the Cambridge Pottery Festival has given $5000.00 in High School and College Scholarships to promote continued education in the ceramic arts.
SHIMPO America will be available to fit your ceramic hobby with however many tools, wheels and kilns you may need. If you would like to pre-order from SHIMPO and have it delivered to our site, please contect them at shimpoceramics.com.
